Once in a lifetime,
twice in a dream,
fast as a heartbeat
or so it would seem.

Starting to stutter,
starting to shake,
starting to wonder
if it's a mistake.

Replayed in my mind,
revised in my head,
not wanting to speak
for thoughts to be said.

Wrapped up in my arms,
wishing you'd know,
it tears me apart
when I let you go.

In decades from now.
heart-ached I'll say,
that you were the one
I let get away.
